A Magical Afternoon: Celebrating Brown Girls Do Ballet at Half Price Books

This past Saturday, August 31st, Brown Girls Do Ballet took center stage at Half Price Books in Dallas, where an afternoon of storytelling, creativity, and community came together beautifully.

An Afternoon of Storytelling and Creativity

The event began with a captivating storytime session, where young dancers and their families gathered to hear the inspiring words of Brown Girls Do Ballet. The children's excitement and engagement were palpable as they listened to the story that reflects their own dreams and experiences in the world of ballet.

After the reading, the fun continued with an arts and crafts station, where kids got to unleash their creativity. From decorating ballerina silhouettes to coloring pages inspired by the book, the arts and crafts area was buzzing with activity. It was a joy to see the children so immersed in creating their own pieces of art.

Special Guests and Memorable Moments

Adding to the day's excitement, several Brown Girls Do Ballet Ambassadors were present to meet and greet the young attendees. These talented dancers shared their experiences, offered words of encouragement, and posed for photos, creating a sense of connection and mentorship that made the event even more special.

A highlight of the day was the appearance of the book’s cover girl, Caliyah, who not only attended but also signed autographs. Caliyah’s presence added an extra layer of magic to the event, as the young dancers had the opportunity to meet one of the faces representing the diversity and strength celebrated in the book.
