Giving Tuesday 2022: Support our Pointe Shoe Program
Tomorrow, November 29th, 2022, is Giving Tuesday!
Giving Tuesday is simply a day centered around generosity. Generosity can be shown in many ways - from volunteering your time, showing an act of kindness, expressing yourself for a moving cause, or by donating food, items, or money to people and organizations who would greatly benefit from it.
In past years, funds donated to our organization have supported our initiatives, which each aim to support dancers, dance teachers, studio owners, and college students as they excel in their endeavors.
For this year’s Giving Tuesday, we hope to raise $30,000 to support our Pointe Shoe Program!
Much like any sport, participating in dance comes with many costs: lessons, dancewear, dance supplies, travel costs, physical therapy, and more. Pointe shoes are an essential, yet expensive cost for dancers. Each pair of pointe shoes can cost anywhere from $65-$120.
They may last for up to 12 hours of dancing, which means ballerinas must replace them regularly. Pre-professional dancers might go through about 4 pairs a year, while professionals can go through as many as a few pairs a week! Younger dancers whose feet are rapidly growing and changing will also need to purchase new pairs often.

As an organization, we strive to ease the financial strain of dancing to provide accessibility to the craft for more dancers nationwide. Through our Pointe Shoe Program, we have partnered with various retailers and donors to collect pointe shoes in all shapes, sizes, colors, brands, styles, and structures. Shoes are then donated to dancers who demonstrate a need for them.
With this year’s donations, we hope to match our supply of pointe shoes with the enormous demand we’ve witnessed. Our goal is to have a large inventory of pointe shoes readily accessible for dancers to acquire as soon as they reach out to us through the Pointe Shoe Program.
