Brown Ballerina Ambassador DianaStarr Robinson on Fulfilling Your Destiny

This month, we asked some of our Brown Ballerina Ambassadors to tell us what their purpose is in dance. In her interview below, 11-year-old dancer DianaStarr Robinson shares hers.

Originally from Seattle, WA, DianaStarr started dancing at age 2. Since then, she’s danced with Tacoma City Ballet, Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center, and is now at Pacific Northwest Ballet, where she’s studied for the past 4 years. She has taken lessons in classical ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, Horton’s dance technique, West African, and Pilates.

Spreading Inspiration

DianaStarr was inspired by her mother to become a dancer - a premonition her mother says she had since she found out she was pregnant. Now, DianaStarr wants everyone to be just as certain of their destiny. “Anyone can be a dancer, no matter what others say or do to them,” she said.

The Importance of Purpose

DianaStarr works toward her purpose by constantly challenging herself and taking extra classes when possible. “It’s important to have a focus in life to know where you are heading,” she said. “Don’t be afraid to show who you are and show who you are meant to be!”
