The Brown Girls Do Inc family is saddened to report the loss of a great mentor and long-time supporter, Pamela Estes. The family of Mrs. Estes has requested donations be made in her loving memory to Brown Girls Do Inc.
Pamela Kaye was born in Muskegon, Michigan, on August 16, 1959, and unexpectedly transitioned to eternal rest on June 25, 2021.
She obtained her bachelors degree in business from Northwood University. While attending the University, she was the founding member and president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. In her desire to learn and obtain as much knowledge as possible, she moved to Newport Beach, California, where she received her MBA from West Coast University. She worked as the Executive Director of the Greater Dallas Community Relations Commission, where she was the first African-American woman to hold the position. Pamela found her purpose as a leader and mentor to young women. She also served as the Executive Director of the National African-American Women's Institute (NAAWLI). While there, she knew that she wanted to ensure women of color had the tools and opportunities to succeed and also to provide mentorship for young African American women so they would know leaders who looked like them.
Pamela Kaye Estes will be remembered for her compassion, her directness, her counseling, her strength, and her loving God-fearing spirit.
The Brown Girls Do Inc family expresses its extreme gratitude to Pamela and appreciation and condolences to her loving husband James for all of the support over the years and is honored that the family has chosen us to receive in her memory.
