Brown Ballerina Ambassador Destiny Wimpye's Audition Season Goals

Sometimes, accomplishing a large goal requires you to conquer smaller goals along the way. Destiny Wimpye, an 18-year-old Brown Ballerina Ambassador, set a goal this year to be accepted into a ballet company that celebrates who she is as a person and dancer. In order to achieve this goal, Destiny knew that she would need to apply to multiple ballet companies first.

That’s why she set a goal during audition season to send her application materials to different companies all over the world - a task that required focus, organization, and motivation. In her interview below, Destiny reflects on her experience reaching this goal. We’ve also included a list of articles that may be beneficial during audition season.

Enlisting Help

Audition season can be very stressful. In order to achieve this goal, I had help from my mom, who has kept me motivated and positive throughout this experience.

Overcoming Challenges

I have faced some challenges. Finding time to film my variations or my class work has been hard. I rehearse and train for hours so I’m normally tired after a long day. Reminding myself not to procrastinate and get the job done helped me through those barriers.

Goal-Setting Advice

Always work hard because it really does pay off. In the meantime, continue to love, inspire, and motivate the people around you!
